I maintained those beliefs while writing the book, even as Georgiana’s changed. We had shared a set of assumptions - a framework of beliefs - that are the essence of youth. How do you solve a problem like Georgiana? I climbed out of the car feeling very small and unimportant. No one was standing still except for the extras who clustered together in awkward little groups, gingerly wearing in their freshly pressed costumes. Massive lights and cables colonized the forecourt.
